END OF THE WORLD

“But of that day and hour knoweth no man,

no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.”

Matthew 24.36

The doomsday prophecy of Harold Camping, the 89 year old talk show radio host who falsely predicted the “end of the world”, turned out to be another display of misinformation.  That May 21st has come and gone without incident, appeared to trouble him so much that he was ‘very surprised’ that the rapture did not come.  Doomsday prophecies have flourished, even in Jesus’  day, but He has made it clear, no man knows the hour nor the day,  but only God.  More troubling to me is how so many people believed in him, but listened not to the voice of Jesus.

A more relevant prediction is the ‘end of our world’.  We do not have long to stay here.  The Psalmist suggested that we “number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom”. Psalm 90.12.  The fear of the Lord is the “beginning of wisdom” (Psalm 111.10), a good place to start in our relationship with Christ.

Even Jesus recognized His own mortality.  He said, “I must work the works of Him that sent Me while it is day;  the night cometh, when no man can work”.  John 9.4.  Is your house in order?  Are you prepared for the end of your world?  Night is coming.  Build a relationship with Christ.  Don’t delay, do it today.
