CHRISTIAN MILITIA “…Endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ” 2 Timothy 2.3
The recent arrests by the FBI of members purporting to be “Christian militia” preparing to wage war against the Anti-Christ, highlights how twisted minds can attempt to twist the Word of God.David Stone and a group of eight others were stormed in Hillsdale County, Michigan on the belief they were plotting to kill police and other government officials. Their band of radical militia bore no resemblance to the true saints of God, who are fighting sin and Satan, not with physical weaponry, but armed with the Word, which Paul describes as “the sword of the Spirit”. Ephesians 6.17. As a matter of fact, Paul makes it clear that we “wrestle not against flesh and blood… but against spiritual wickedness in high places”. Those who spout venom and hate are not enlisted in God’s Army, and have no place within its ranks. They are not “Christian” at all, and are not followers of Christ.
Of course this begs the question, what is the Army of the Lord, and who are its members? Paul makes it clear that the warfare we are engaged in is spiritual, and can only be fought on a spiritual plane. He even identifies the uniform with which we must be outfitted, should we called into battle: 1) Take the whole armor of God, that we might be able to stand in the evil day 2) Stand, having our loins girt about with truth 3) put on the breastplate of righteousness 4) Shod our feet with the preparation of the Gospel 5) Take the shield of faith and the helmet of salvation 6) Don’t forget the sword, which is the Word of God and 7) Don’t forget to pray.
Are you a soldier in the Army of the Lord? Do you belong to the true Christian Militia? If so, fight on! Work on! Serve on! Knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain, and the Victory has already been won. Ride on, King Jesus! Ride on!
